The BBC reported that psychotherapy from a large clinic network in Finland suffered a cyberattack and patient data, and notes on their sessions stolen. The hacker then reached out to the patients and blackmailed them or their patient data will be released to the public.
The clinic says they believe that the data was stolen in 2018 and 2019. Two breaches and it appears they did not notify these patients about it, they heard of it when the hacker attempted to blackmail.
There’s much benefit to having electronic records, but that data must be guarded with the highest security and breaches should come with heavy consequences for data holders and and hackers. One chart is too many.
